Super-frog State of Mind

Super Frog State of Mind

Poem by Jungah Ahn

Living a boring life I was

Less than an ordinary man I was

Just another day nothing special

Giant, man sized frog with a froggy facial

Thought I was in dream

Welcome home, he beamed

Somebody is playing a sick joke, I assumed

Maybe it’s too much caffeine I consumed

Friendly frog said he will fight against a worm

I got no such power, afraid I warned

Sorry Mr. Frog I can’t join the war

It’s alright Mr, enjoy the tea I poured

Sophisticated he croaked, to prove himself real

Complicated I smoked, to keep myself sane

A real frog standing before me is what he was

A real frog talking in my kitchen is what it was

Angry worm will cause the earthquake under the ground he said

But why me? I am less than ordinary, living a horrible life I claimed

This city can be only saved by a person like you,

This city should only saved for people like you

I meant to meet you for the fight last night

I woke up in the hospital with a pain inside

Nurse said I wasn’t injured, maybe she think I’m insane

I could only think about us, the fight and the city

Frog came back with a face pale as moonlight

His eyes gray as cloud, his mind blurred as a smoke

I was a great help for the fight he said

I cheered him to fight a good fight he recalled

We saved this city from the worm and the earthquake

Weird looking frog say as he quakes

Take a deep sleep I suggested

Instead he’s going back to murk, blue and distressed

Brave frog gave up his life to save the city

The lady nurse still look at me weirdly

What she sees with her eyes aren’t necessarily real

What I know, we have plenty things in this city that’s awful

Closing my eyes, I think of frog again

Maybe this time I am going insane

Maybe the earthquake made all the illusions

This is what we’ll suffer without conclusion
